Nonreflecting Stationary Sets in Pκλ
Let κ be a regular uncountable cardinal and λ ≥ κ. The principle of stationary reflection for Pκλ has been successful in settling problems of infinite combinatorics in the case κ = ω1. For a greater κ the principle is known to fail at some λ. This note shows that it fails at every λ if κ is the successor of a regular uncountable cardinal or κ is countably closed.
متن کاملStationary Measures and Invariant Subsets of Homogeneous Spaces (ii)
We recall that a probability measure ν on X is said to be μ-stationary if one has μ ∗ ν = ν. It is then said to be μ-ergodic if it is extremal among μ-stationary probability measures. We will say that a probability measure ν on X is homogeneous if it is supported by a closed orbit F of its stabilizer Gν := {g ∈ G | g∗ν = ν}. Such a probability is a finite average of probability measures which a...
متن کاملDiscretely Nonreflecting Boundary Conditionsfor Linear Hyperbolic Systems
Many compressible flow and aeroacoustic computations rely on accurate nonreflecting or radiation boundary conditions. When the equations and boundary conditions are discretized using a finite-difference scheme, the dispersive nature of the discretized equations can lead to spurious numerical reflections not seen in the continuous boundary value problem. Here we construct discretely nonreflectin...

of the ordinary differential equation which occurs in the boundary condition. An exact nonreflecting boundary condition was derived previously for use with the time dependent wave equation in three Finally, we shall solve a sequence of scattering problems space dimensions. Here it is shown how to combine that boundary by using an explicit finite difference method and our condition with finite d...
متن کاملΚ-stationary Subsets of Pκ+λ, Infinitary Games, and Distributive Laws in Boolean Algebras
We characterize the (κ, λ,< μ)-distributive law in Boolean algebras in terms of cut and choose games G <μ(λ), when μ ≤ κ ≤ λ and κ <κ = κ. This builds on previous work to yield game-theoretic characterizations of distributive laws for almost all triples of cardinals κ, λ, μ with μ ≤ λ, under GCH. In the case when μ ≤ κ ≤ λ and κ = κ, we show that it is necessary to consider whether the κ-statio...
